Charleston Restaurant Guide

Charleston is one of my favorite foodie spots to visit. The list below is separated by downtown and then Mount Pleasant/Sullivan’s Island/Isle of Palms. Anything with an * I have not yet been to but is on my bucket list to check out based on recommendations from others. I hope this helps you enjoy this place as much as I do!

  • Poogan’s Porch – Hands down, the best shrimp & grits in town!
  • 82 Queen – great outdoor dining ambiance with amazing fried chicken & gravy

  • Tricera Coffee – coffee shop located right near C of C campus

  • The Ordinary – 1920’s bank turned into an upscale seafood restaurant; the best oyster sliders, smoked oysters, & seafood main dishes
  • Leon’s Oyster Shop – great fried chicken and oysters, casual and lively vibe
  • 167 Raw – raw bar, lobster roll chowder, ceviche, oyster po boy*
  • The Darling Oyster Bar – great window to people watch on King*
  • Chez Nous – french fare, daily changing handwritten menu*
  • FIG – one of the originals (same owner as the ordinary)*
  • Husk – well-known spot, James Beard award winner, Southern in a restored Victorian era home with a great bar
  • Stars – Rooftop views with great food and drinks
  • Rappahannock Oyster Bar
  • The Rarebit – comfort classics in mid-century atmosphere
  • The Macintosh – lowcountry creative menu
  • Hall’s Chophouse

  • The Co-Op (Sullivan’s Island) – to-go breakfast/lunch sammys & froze

  • Obstinate Daughter (Sullivan’s Island) – great lunch or dinner spot with a mix of Italian fare and seafood
  • HomeTeam (Sullivan’s Island) – Brisket Nachos, frozen Irish coffee, game changer & shrimp & grits for brunch are all favorites
  • Tavern & Table (Shem Creek) – great patio views overlooking Shem creek

  • Shelter – local hangout for twenty-somethings; DJ on weekend nights
